Day 284 – 1 Thessalonians: Faithfulness to the Lord
“And now the word of the Lord is ringing out from you to people everywhere, even beyond Macedonia and Achaia, for wherever we go we find people telling us about your faith in God. We don’t need to tell them about it, for they keep talking about the wonderful welcome you gave us and how you turned away from idols to serve the living and true God.” 1 Thessalonians 1:8-9 NLT
Read 1 Thessalonians 1:1 to 1 Thessalonians 3:13
Paul expressed his concern for the church even while he was being slandered. His commitment to sharing the gospel despite difficult circumstances is a model we should follow. He not only delivered his message but also gave of himself.
Paul and his companions had been faithful in bringing the gospel to Thessalonica amid persecution. Though the Thessalonians had only recently become Christians, they had remained faithful to the Lord despite the apostles’ absence.
We need to stand firm in our faith amid adversity, being strengthened by the Holy Spirit, who helps us to remain strong in faith, show genuine love to others, and maintain Godly character even when we are being persecuted, slandered, or oppressed. The faithfulness to the Lord of the first-century Christians is a beautiful testimony that we can integrate into our Christian life too.
Prayer: Thank You, Father, for the example and testimonies we find within these pages. May the seed of this Word filter deep within our hearts to strengthen our Faith. Amen.
