Day 3 – Like a NEVER-failing stream

“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” Amos 5:24 NIV

My grandfather taught us how to fold paper boats from Wilson Toffee wrappers and to get all the grandchildren out of the house we would run down to the stream to have a boat race. I remember being excited and fascinated when our little boats bobbed on the water and disappeared around the corner following the flow of the stream.  Thinking back at this fond memory I remember that I took the stream for granted – the water always flowed even though it ebbed during the dry season, ready to take our colourful, little boats on a journey. Just like the stream running through my memories, God’s righteousness is like a never-failing stream. But what is God’s righteousness?

The word righteousness means God’s approval or being considered right in his eyes. Think of it in this fashion: When God sees you he approves of you because you are a bearer of his righteousness through Jesus. I would like to share three very important facts about the righteousness of God: You cannot earn it, buy it, or exchange it. God’s righteousness is that it doesn’t cost you anything but costs Jesus everything. And you have this certainty – it is like a never-failing stream.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the assurance that what Jesus Christ did for us makes us righteous in Your eyes and that Your righteousness is like a never-failing stream. Never do we need to doubt this
