Dear Thoughts… Day 6
What’s the point?
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 NKJV
Our lives, from a very young age, are centred around achievements: learning to read and write, getting good grades, succeeding in our careers, and starting a family. But adult life – real life – has no clear end game. You might look at your life, job, or relationship and the thought “What’s the point?” echoes from the deepest void of your mind.
This dangerous, discouraging, negative thought leads exactly where the enemy wants you to be: at a dark and lonely cul-de-sac of life where you just do not care anymore. This thought strips your purpose and soon enough you do not see purpose in anything you do. Not even in who you are.
Dear Thoughts… I know what the point is. The point is to be able to say I fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. My purpose is to believe in the one He has sent as Jesus said in John 6:29 “Jesus told them, ‘This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one He has sent.” With my thoughts on Jesus, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Through Jesus I can stand righteous before God. With Jesus I can fight the negative “What’s the point thought”, I can finish the race and I can keep the faith.
Prayer: Father, thank You for giving us a purpose. I pray that anyone who has ever thought “What’s the point?” in any of their circumstances or even their life to see this thought as the negative, destructive, ugly lie that it is. That You would give them a new revelation on their purpose and new breath the finish this race. I pray for a faith renewal in hearts broken down by this lie. Amen.
