Day 3 – Surrender

“That is why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 NLT

Climbing anything, not just mountains, is strenuous – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles sound like huge mountains to me. You might have already climbed a great distance only to realize you have no way forward anymore. There are no more cracks or crevices you can put your hands in to pull yourself up. You are stuck. It is in these moments we learn to surrender.

Surrendering does not mean the mountain got the better of you. I know that our view of surrendering is weak and sometimes pathetic. But the greatest act of strength is to choose to be weak. Since God’s Kingdom has opposite principles to the world’s, an act of surrender is not as pathetic as the world would want us to believe. To God, it is the most graceful and disciplined act we can do: letting go and letting God! As we let go of our trust in our strength to scale the face of our mountain, we gain all our strength through Him.

The sooner you learn that surrendering to God is the most effective way for you to partner with Him – for when I am weak (in me), then I am strong (in Jesus).

Prayer: Father, my prayer is today for all those who believe that the mountain they are climbing is getting the better of them and they feel stuck. I pray that they will learn that surrendering to You is an act of obedient weakness and that through surrendering they will realize the strength who is Jesus is what makes them strong to not give up. Let them wave the white flag of complete surrender to You and show them the path up the mountain to Your embrace. Amen.
