Day 6 – Knowing Peace
“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 NKJV
I phoned my husband when we arrived home, he was stationed in Namibia for work and trying to find flights to come home when he heard the news. I related all the events of the evening and about the presence of God’s peace. I assured him we were fine – that I was fine, and it felt strange because one would think the whole world would come crashing down. But it didn’t. I felt peace and could not explain it.
That night when I flipped open my Bible app, Philippians 4:7 was the “verse of the day”. What I was feeling (the whole time) was exactly THIS verse. Finally, I had a solid foundation in God’s Word to explain exactly how I felt. And for the first time that day, I cried. Not because I was sad (maybe because of that too), but because of God’s faithfulness. In that moment I knew that all the theological knowledge about peace I have learned over the years does not compare to KNOWING PEACE. Truly. Intimately. Godly.
Prayer: Father, I pray that Your children come to KNOW Your peace, joy, love, mercy, grace, and faithfulness instead of just knowing about it. That Your presence will become a reality and that Your Word will come alive to them. Thank You for being my peace. Amen.
