Day 7 – Caring Peace

“The Lord cares deeply when his loved ones die.” Psalm 116:15
When my phone rang early on Friday afternoon, I knew. Not because I am all that clever, but because God prepared me. It was 13:30 that day when God took my mom Home. I thanked the lady who phoned. When the call came, I stepped out of the office and stood looking over the garden area with its beautiful, peaceful Acacia and Black wattle trees.
I thanked God for His peace as tears started rolling. I thanked Him for my mom’s life and that He chose her as my mother. For what she taught me and teaching me to be a strong, independent woman reliant on God. I thanked Him for being her peace during her last moments on earth that she was not alone, and for being her peace for eternity.
My sister in Christ said it feels like your umbilical cord is cut again when your mother dies. Lying on my bed that afternoon it felt like that. But God assured me that even through death, He cares. That’s why He gives peace to those going through the shadows of death and to those who are left to deal with the grief. Friend, God cares deeply when his loved ones die – remember this.
Prayer: Father, thank You that You care deeply when Your loved ones die. You are there every moment and every step of the way through the most difficult thing we face. With each step Your peace is present, unchanging, and the Rock on which we can stand. Or lie on to cry. Your love for us is so deep that You gave salvation so we can be with You after death. Amen.
