Day 7 – Humble house
“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
In the movie War Room, Elizabeth Jordan (played by the talented Priscilla Shirer) found the truth in this verse as she was praying for her house which was falling apart one emotion after another. Determined and fired-up in her prayer she storms out of the house, “I am so sick of you stealing my joy. But that’s changing too. My joy doesn’t come from my friends, it doesn’t come from my job, and it doesn’t even come from my husband. My joy is found in Jesus, and just in case you forgot, He has already defeated you. S go back to hell where you belong and LEAVE MY FAMILY ALONE!”
It might have just been words recited from a script, but I feel each and everyone should take this stand against the enemy for the sake of our family – our houses. Because when you decide to say, “Me and my house will serve the Lord”, you are a target for the enemy and he will try with all of his might to break up your house. My dear sister, humble yourself before God. Teach your house to be humble before God. Resist the devil in unity – as a house – and tell him to LEAVE YOUR FAMILY ALONE!
Ask God to show you ways how to serve Him through love, generosity, joy, and humility. Not because you want to be known as a house that serves the Lord, but because you do it with hearts seeking to please our King.
Prayer: Father, thank You for being our gracious King, and I know that when I stay in a humbled position at the foot of Your throne, resisting the devil and his worldly temptations he will flee from me. Not because of me, but because of who You are and because I am Your daughter. Help us to be humble before you as a house and give us the strength through Your grace to resist the devil. Through Jesus, we already have the victory and walk as victors. Today I declare just like Joshua, me and my house will serve the Lord. Amen.
