Day 98 – Take up your cross
Study Luke 9:24-27
“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” Luke 9:24
The call to carry a cross sounds like a death sentence, but Jesus turns earthly logic completely upside down. Whoever tries desperately to protect, hoard, and save their life on their own terms will ultimately lose it. But whoever joyfully loses their life for Christ’s sake will truly find it.
What profit is there in gaining the entire passing world if we forfeit our own soul in the process? Following Jesus isn’t about losing out on life; it’s about being set free to live the abundant, eternal life we were created for. Dying to self is the only pathway to genuine, lasting joy.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, free me from the trap of selfish ambition and fear. Help me to gladly lay down my life for Your sake, knowing that true life is found only in Your hands. Amen. ©
