Dear Thoughts… Day 14

Strong mind
“That’s why I take pleasure in my weakness, and in the insults, hardships, persecution, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 NLT
Let us just be honest… there is no pleasure in weakness, insults, hardships, and the like as in our key verse. Our minds (by default) go to negativity the moment we start experiencing these. Paul gives keywords to search a little deeper. “That’s why…” We find the answer tucked away in verse 8, “My grace is all you need”
God’s grace applies to our thoughts too because our actions are rooted in our thinking. Grace given when it feels least deserved is the only antidote to change your mindset. But this sounds easier as what it is in practice. I learned to interrupt my thoughts. To think: “Stop! Is thought honouring God?” When the answer is no, I take the thought and say “I bring this thought under the obedience of Jesus Christ because through God’s grace He is strongest in my weakest thoughts”
Dear Thoughts… God’s grace is sufficient for my thoughts too which is why I choose to change my mindset about my weakness, insults, hardships, persecution, and troubles, because I give it to Jesus – bringing my thoughts to Him in obedience – I can change them to positive thinking. In my weak thoughts I am strong by the grace of God.
Prayer: Father, thank You for your grace. Grace for my thoughts. Grace I really do not deserve. But Your grace Lord, fills my mind with wonder and awe and strengthens my mind to stand up against the weakness of my thoughts. Amen.
