Preparing the soil – Day 10

Ask for harvesters
“These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Luke 10:2 NLT
Our garden came along and the vegetables grew beautifully to my expectation. We harvested tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans etc. But then, by some accident, I broke my leg (the tibia) and could not work in our garden. I read this verse and realise that even if we prepare the soil with blood and sweat, plant the seed with love and see the beautiful plants grow – it’s not always for us to do the harvesting. I had to call in the cavalry (consisting of our two girls) to rummage through the leaves to harvest plump vegetables.
If the soil we prepared are fertile and saturated with the Holy Spirit, the seed of God growing lush and the crops blessed a hundred fold… we need help! We are instructed to pray to the Lord to send more workers. Fruit not harvested rots and go to waste. Not all are soil preparers or sowers, some of us are needed to harvest. Are you equipped to prepare the soil, sow the seed or to harvest?
Prayer: Father, thank You that we are not all soil preparers, sowers or harvesters. You created each of us with unique talents to help the seed of Your Word grow to it’s full potential. Use me in Your Garden to reach our full potential. Amen.
