Every day we are faced with choices. Many of them are small and almost automatic – what time to get up, what to wear, what to eat. These decisions become habitual, woven into the rhythm of our lives. But then there are the bigger choices, the ones that feel like standing at a crossroad with no idea which path to follow. Which career to choose for your future, whether to move, and how to respond to a difficult relationship. It is in these moments that we often cry out to God for direction, and sometimes we feel as though the answer is slow in coming.
The truth is, our ability to make wise choices is directly connected to how well we listen to Godβs voice. Are we listening for His voice to be obedient, or only for the answer we want? When we seek Him in everything, even in the small habitual choices, we train our hearts to recognize His guidance instinctively, like breathing. The more we practice listening, the more natural it becomes to discern His will in the bigger decisions.
Godβs promise in Proverbs 3:6 is clear: if we seek His will in all we do, He will show us the path to take. That means no choice is too small to bring before Him. Every decision is an opportunity to lean into His wisdom, to trust His timing, and to walk in obedience.
Pray with me: Father, I confess that I often forget to listen for Your voice in the choices I make, and too often I rely on my own understanding. Thank You for Your patience with me, and for guiding me even when I stumble. Teach me to seek You in every decisionβbig or smallβand to trust that You will show me the right path. Help me to walk in obedience, knowing that Your way leads to life. Amen. Β©
