Breath – Day 10

“Aha” moments

“But it is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding” Job 32:8 (NASB)

Ever had an “Aha moment” whilst busy with Bible study or listening to a sermon? “Aha moments” are those moments where you suddenly understand something. It just clicks in your mind and makes sense. I like it when my “mmm wondering moments” snaps to these precious “aha moments”. Some “wondering moments” take a little longer than others. For me and you to understand something, we need to learn about it first.

If you give matric end exam papers to 8th graders, you will be answered with a very quizzical look. They would not understand the questions, let alone complete the exam. But if you teach the content of the exam paper to the same 8th graders, I am sure they would be able to complete the exam because they would understand what was taught to them and what the questions are about.

God did not only give us a spirit, but His breath gave us understanding too. “Understanding what exactly?” you might think. Because, let us be honest, some days we do not understand everything God shows us. (At first). As we are taught through the Bible – and many other platforms like sermons, devotionals, etc – our understanding becomes deeper. Through God’s breath, we understand what is taught. Allowing our understanding to become knowledge which we can implement in our lives.

God’s breath gives us the understanding to navigate our spirit through this world. It is that “aha-moment” you get and know that God has revealed something to you – allowing you to understand His heart. The more time you spend in the Word and surrounding yourself with the Word of God, the more you learn and the deeper your understanding becomes through His breath – because all scripture is God-breathed.

Prayer: Father, thank You for those “aha moments” and for giving me an understanding of Your Word and You. Thank You for allowing me to get to know You better through the understanding breathed into my soul. I pray for divine “aha moments” to draw me closer to You still. Amen.
