Day 15 – Curses from man: Soulish prayers and Utterances
“But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” James 3: 14 – 17 (KJV)
There are two types of wisdom that James speaks about here. He mentions the wisdom that is earthly, sensual, and devilish and the wisdom from above. The wisdom from above he describes as pure and peaceable. You can hear the difference between the two, one obviously from God and the other from the devil, but it is not always so easy to spot in real life.
The early prayers are usually prayers that people pray over you, but they will try to control you with the prayers, praying their will over your life and not God’s will. These prayers we can most certainly do without and they eventually can have the same impact and effect as a curse on your life. Be careful of the prayers coming from the wisdom of earthly or soulish (without spirit) prayers. These prayers can also be people gossiping about you, or criticizing you, and through this curse you.
I see so many times that people who are offended or angered or hurt by someone will say something like: “I hope God will deal with you” or “May you get what you deserve”, masking their curse by adding “God”, or we make ourselves feel better by thinking that we did not say anything bad, but clearly the intention of these utterances are not from God. They come from the devil. Be careful not to utter these types of words over others.
I hope this devotional has given you insight and hope, that we can be free from these curses. God wants us to be free and He wants to heal us, we must just open ourselves to Him and let Him shine a light on the darkness in our lives.
Prayer: Abba, we praise you. We praise You for Your grace and Your mercy. We praise You for wanting us to be free. Thank you for showing me the curses in my life. Please let me keep praying and staying in Your lights. Thank you for Your love and sacrifice.Amen
