Day 4 – House of Friends
“Oh, for the days when I was in my prime, when God’s intimate friendship blessed my house.” Job 29:4
Job’s house was destroyed. He lost his children, and livestock and suffered damage to his property. But Job still acknowledges that what he had with God was not just a relationship, but an intimate friendship. Truth is, God never left Job.
Through everything God allowed to happen to Job, I believe that God showed that friendships is not always sunshine and rainbows. True friendship relationships endure trials and tribulations too. Three friends joined Job’s fire, but the true Friend, in the end, was God answering Job allowing Him to understand His divinity and reasoning. God blessed his house abundantly.
As we take caution and time to serve and befriend others, we will not only support others in the Name of Jesus but also build a network of support for ourselves. I know I had times when I could not see how to face a situation, let alone get through it. If it wasn’t for friends who loved Jesus and sacrificed their own time to support me, I would not have been where I am today. It taught me a lot about building friendships and is an important foundation to teach in your house to be friends with each other too. David had Jonathan. Who do you have?
Prayer: Father, thank You for teaching us the value of friendship and that You are the greatest friend I could ever ask for. Just as others are friends to me, show me how I can be a valuable and trusted friend for the people You placed in my life. We cannot face life alone and were not meant to. So, I thank You Lord for the friends in my life. Amen.
