Day 8 – God’s curses: Illicit or unnatural sex

“Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife; because he uncovereth his father’s skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen. Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen. Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen. Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say, Amen.” Deuteronomy 27:20 – 23 (KJV)

Curses follow sin, and as we know any form of sex that is not between a husband and wife is a sin against your own body (1 Corinthians 6: 18). We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, we are the body of Christ. When we sin against our own bodies, we smear the body of Christ with dirt. We smudge filth over His creation. We are made in His image. If we sin against our own body, we sin against the creation of the Lord, His own image. How do you think this makes Him feel?

There are so many illicit sexual sins in the world today, but you can flee from this sin. You can rebuke the devil when he comes with this sort of temptation because you want to keep your temple clean so that the Holy Spirit can dwell there. The fact that Paul uses the word “flee” when he speaks about fornication can indicate to you that it can happen quicker than you can imagine. So do not fall for the temptations of this sin, it will only end in a curse over your life.

Prayer: Almighty God, please help me to flee from this sin as it will only lead to being cursed. Please help me to keep my temple clean for you, to not let the devil tempt me into smudging Your image with filth. Forgive the sins that I have committed. Amen.
