Day 4 – Artistic Journals

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.” Psalm 145:18-19

Journaling Bibles have become very popular and unlocked a new way of spending time in God’s Word. It is a personal and creative way of engaging with scripture, involving your thoughts, insights, and prayers expressed through art.

It can be done in many different ways, depending on your preference and style. Some prefer to use hand lettering to write out their favorite verses, while others prefer stamps, stickers, or washi tape for decoration. You can draw or paint, use coloured pens and pencils or markers allowing your page to reflect your connection with God.

Don’t just swipe away with the paintbrush just to “do it”. Always be honest! If you are upset, happy, sad, or overjoyed with Thanksgiving, follow your emotions. This is not a social media feed for the world to pick apart. It is a conversation between you and God. Like a heart-to-heart talk between a precious daughter and a loving Father being captured in art. It does not matter where you are in Your spiritual walk, Psalm 145 is a beautiful promise that God is near to each and every one of us and when we call on Him in Truth, He saves us! I believe the expression of Bilble Journal Art is a form of calling out to God through your creativity when you just can’t articulate what your soul feels. And if our Father had a fridge, I am sure it would be covered in the pages created by His daughters.

Prayer: Father, I admire the creativity You gave us to reflect how we feel to You in colour. How great did You create us to not only use our words to worship You but also through something like art? While we work on our pages hear the call from our hearts through the expression of a truth-filled heart longing to be with You. Thank You, Lord, for giving us creative ways to engage with Your Word. Amen.
