Listen – Day 22
Strengths of a Spiritual Hearer
“As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him, and everything Samuel said proved to be reliable.” 1 Samuel 3:19
A mature spiritual hearer has unwavering confidence when prophesying what they heard from God. We don’t have any Biblical evidence that Eli continued to guide Samuel to further develop his gift. The boy Samuel grew to be a mature spiritual hearer and only relied on the definite Word from God. Spiritual hearers find their strength in a submissive, listening environment.
- They can work independently and keep to the Word they heard. If God said something, they would stick to it like glue and work towards it or prophesy to whom it was intended.
- Spiritual hearers uniquely hear God. It’s like His voice resonance through your spirit like thunder. They instinctively know the Word is from God.
- They can point to a single moment of hearing which grounds their confidence in what they are communicating. They can say exactly when and where God spoke to them.
- Another strength of a spiritual hearer is journaling or continuously writing down what God is saying to them. They can go back to things written down in the past for confirmation or cross-referencing etc.
Prayer: Father, how amazing is all Your gifts you bestow on us, so we can listen to You. Lord, thank You for the spiritual hearers and I pray that you will guide them to find confidence in their gift and to prophecy what the hear from Your lips. Amen.©
