Gratefulness

“Ruth fell at is feet and thanked him warmly. ‘What have I done to deserve such kindness?’ she asked. ‘I am only a foreigner.” Ruth 2:10

Ruth humbly owned herself unworthy of the favour bestowed upon her and gratefully acknowledges his kindness to her. She paid him all the possible respect and gave him honour according to the Hebrew customs by falling at his feet. Most of the time, (okay, all the time) I stand in awe of the blessings showered upon me by God. And, just like Ruth, I find myself asking “What have I done to deserve such kindness?” Gratefulness is, in my book, one of the foundational stones in any relationship. If we do not understand the importance to be grateful in our relationship with God, we are only creating a spiritual expectancy in which we expect God to give us everything or to solve our problems for us. But gratefulness is the thank you card from a humbled heart overflowing from awe of our Father.

Ruth Relationship Advice: Gratefulness replaces entitlement.

Prayer: Father, I am grateful for all that You do for me, for all the blessings in my life. The ones I know of, and even those I don’t or do not immediately see. I am grateful for Your hand in my life and for every breath I breathe, every beautiful day, every drop of rain and every passing second of my life. Amen.
