Day 10 – Prayers for the laundry room

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.” Matthew 6:25-29 NLT

Sometimes I am not sure if I pray for the laundry room or because of the laundry room. It’s the one task I really like the least. Wash. Dry. Iron. Fold. Repeat. But it’s in these mundane tasks where it gives me time to think and reflect. I used to be very anxious at the start of the new school year. It’s a lot of money for new clothes, shoes, and the like. But God comfort us when Jesus says, “not to worry about everyday life”. He is the ultimate provider and will supply according to our needs. (If you do not have a laundry room, pray over the are where you do the washing.)

Praying for the laundry room

Father, thank You for the clothes to wear and for a place where I can wash it. Give me a joyful heart to complete the chores even when I do not feel up for it. Father, thank You for reminding me that I should not worry. You have always, and will always, provide to our needs and not to our expectation.  May we always dress pleasing to You and to honour Your Name. Amen.
